Scope
This policy covers the Dark Inks iOS app and this promotional website. It describes the app as currently built; this page will change if its data practices do.
The app does not ask you to create a Dark Inks account. This website has no sign-in, contact form, newsletter, or user-posting feature.
Story saves and iCloud
The app stores story saves and progress on your device. When iCloud is available, it syncs them through your own private CloudKit database. Dark Inks does not operate a separate save-data server.
A save may include the current story state and passage, in-story log text, discovered map nodes and routes, endings, active story tags, combat state, story identifiers, and save times. It may reveal which adult stories and passages you have read.
Apple documents that a CloudKit private database belongs to the user’s iCloud account and, by default, its records are accessible to the account owner and are not visible in the developer portal. See Apple’s CloudKit documentation. iCloud is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
You can manage or delete third-party app data through Apple’s iCloud storage settings. Removing Dark Inks data from iCloud may affect save recovery on another device.
Story downloads
The app requests its public story catalogue from GitHub. It then downloads story packages from the HTTPS addresses listed in that catalogue. GitHub or a package host may process ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, device or app details, requested resource, and request time, under its own privacy terms.
The publisher does not receive your story choices or saves through these requests and does not receive GitHub’s raw connection logs.
Website data
This site is static. Dark Inks adds no analytics, advertising pixels, tracking scripts, optional tracking cookies, or third-party fonts and media.
When hosted, the hosting provider may process standard request information needed to deliver and protect the site, including an IP address, requested page, browser headers, and request time. The provider’s privacy terms also apply. This site does not verify a visitor’s age.
Control and retention
Story saves remain on your device and in your iCloud account until removed there. The publisher cannot browse or export records in your private CloudKit database. Apple’s iCloud controls let you manage app data stored there.
Dark Inks is intended for adults aged 18 and over. The app and website are not directed to children, and the publisher does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.
